Introduction to SACOT

Our Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT) program is designed for individuals who need long-term, ongoing support to overcome substance use disorders. SACOT provides a highly structured outpatient environment, with the flexibility to maintain daily responsibilities while participating in an intensive recovery program.

By offering a holistic and multi-faceted approach, SACOT emphasizes long-term rehabilitation through a combination of therapy, medical treatment, and skill-building workshops. Our compassionate team of experts is dedicated to helping you establish a solid foundation for lifelong recovery, addressing not only substance use but also the underlying mental health issues that may be contributing to your addiction.

Who is SACOT For?

SACOT is suitable for individuals who:

  • Need a long-term, structured outpatient program to maintain sobriety.
  • Have experienced chronic or severe substance use disorders.
  • Require ongoing care and monitoring but do not need inpatient hospitalization.
  • Struggle with co-occurring disorders (such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD) alongside addiction.
  • Have completed inpatient or partial hospitalization care and need continued support to transition back into daily life.

What to Expect from SACOT

Program Structure

SACOT is a comprehensive program that typically runs several days a week, allowing participants to receive intensive treatment while maintaining personal, work, or family commitments. The focus is on long-term rehabilitation, ensuring that recovery is sustained over time and that participants build the skills needed to live substance-free lives.

Key elements of the SACOT program include:

  • Individualized Treatment Plans: Tailored to each participant’s specific needs, addressing both substance use and any co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Group Therapy: A core component of SACOT, group therapy provides a supportive environment to share experiences, build connections, and develop strategies for relapse prevention.
  • Individual Counseling: Participants meet regularly with a dedicated therapist to work through personal challenges and monitor their progress in recovery.
  • Case Management: Ongoing support and coordination of care, helping participants access additional resources, such as housing, job placement, or legal assistance.
  • Life Skills Training: Workshops designed to help participants develop practical skills for everyday living, including communication, financial management, and stress management.
  • Relapse Prevention Education: A strong focus on identifying triggers, building healthy coping mechanisms, and developing a plan to avoid relapse.

Why Choose SACOT?

The Benefits of SACOT

SACOT offers a comprehensive, long-term approach to outpatient care, ensuring that participants have the resources and support they need to achieve lasting recovery.

  • Long-Term Focus: SACOT is not a short-term fix, but a program designed to provide continued care over several months, ensuring participants have the time and support to fully recover.
  • Holistic Approach: We treat the whole person, addressing not only the addiction but also the underlying issues like trauma, mental health conditions, and family dynamics that contribute to substance use.
  • Flexible and Structured: SACOT allows participants to attend therapy while continuing to live at home and maintain their daily responsibilities. The program’s structure provides consistent support while allowing for flexibility in scheduling.
  • Ongoing Medical and Therapeutic Support: Our team of doctors, therapists, and counselors are here to help manage any medical needs, mental health conditions, and emotional challenges that arise during recovery.
  • Peer Support: Through group therapy, participants build a supportive community with others on the same path, learning from shared experiences and offering encouragement to one another.

How SACOT Fits Into Your Recovery Journey

SACOT is often a critical step for individuals needing ongoing, intensive support after completing more acute forms of treatment, such as inpatient care or PHP. It serves as a bridge, helping participants transition back into their everyday lives while ensuring they have the structure and resources necessary for long-term success. Whether you’re seeking to maintain sobriety after initial treatment or prevent a relapse, SACOT provides the tools, guidance, and community to sustain your recovery.

Is SACOT Right for You?

SACOT might be the right fit if you:

  • Are in need of a long-term, structured treatment option but do not require 24-hour care.
  • Have a history of relapse and need a comprehensive program to maintain sobriety.
  • Require ongoing support for co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Want to continue working or fulfilling other responsibilities while receiving treatment.
  • Need access to a range of services, including medical care, therapy, and life skills training.

Who Qualifies for SACOT?

The North Carolina SACOT (Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment) program is designed for individuals seeking outpatient treatment for substance abuse. To qualify for this program, clients typically need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Substance Use Issues: The client should have a documented history of substance abuse or dependence that requires treatment but not necessarily 24-hour supervision or inpatient care. Client should not be in jeopardy of going into withdrawal from Alcohol or Benzos. If clients come in with a positive for Alcohol or Benzos they will not be accepted but referred to detox. Clients that come in with a COWS score of moderate or less, they can be started on MAT medications
  2. Assessment Results: An assessment by a qualified professional is often required to determine the severity of the substance abuse problem and to ensure that outpatient treatment is appropriate.
  3. Commitment to Treatment: Clients should demonstrate a willingness and readiness to engage in and benefit from outpatient therapy, including attending sessions regularly and participating in therapeutic activities. Clients must be able to attend to their ADL’s.
  4. Mental and Physical Health: While the program is designed for individuals who do not require intensive inpatient care, clients must be in a stable enough mental and physical health condition to participate in outpatient therapy. Clients will be screened for COVID (if symptoms or exposure exist) If clients test positive for COVID they will not be admitted to the program.
  5. Support System: A supportive environment or network is beneficial for clients to successfully complete the program, though it might not be a strict requirement. Family, friends, or rides that bring clients to the treatment center must wait until client is cleared to be admitted.

Overall, the SACOT program is aimed at individuals who need structured substance abuse treatment but do not require the level of care provided in a residential or inpatient setting. They will need to live in a sober housing placement. They need to be in treatment 6 days a week. This is a combination of Groups and individual therapy sessions. Groups are daily and required and individual sessions are weekly.
